The International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach recently visited Uganda as part of his farewell tour, where he highlighted the importance of sports in fostering social inclusion and mental well-being among refugees. During his visit, he toured the Game Connect project in Kampala, which is organized under the Olympic Refuge Foundation (ORF). This initiative aims to support refugees through sports, helping them integrate into their host communities and improve their mental health.

President Bach was accompanied by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, and they both engaged with young refugees participating in the project. The visit underscored the role of sports in promoting peace, unity, and social inclusion, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
